Synventive exhibited Hot Runner Systems and Advanced Control Technologies at MSV 2018
Synventive, a business of Barnes Group Inc.’s Molding Solutions strategic business unit, will exhibit at MSV (Plastex) 2018 in Hall G1, Booth 55. The company will feature its innovative modular hot runner technologies and controls with a key focus on delivering a stable process, allowing for perfect part quality in challenging molding applications.
On display will be the robust Plug’n Play® hot runner systems with threaded nozzles for various shot weights. Customized and delivered fully pre-assembled they offer zero leakage, uniform temperature profile, energy efficiency, and easy servicing.
A new feature of these systems is the patented Modular Actuators for Plug’n Play valve gate systems. Special features of these actuators include the easy-access pin adjustment without removal of the top plate, quick pin decoupling, and automatic bleed. All actuators are equipped with a pin position sensor for setting up various control functionalities.

The first step in control is to monitor the valve pins movement on a hot runner system. Synventive offers a Valve Monitoring Interface (VMI) for monitoring, diagnostics and troubleshooting from outside the molding machine. VMI make use of the sensor data, provides measured individual pin movement data such as opening times, and allows operators to check that the valve pins are moving as intended.

To meet the steadily growing requirements for surface quality, dimensional tolerance, complexity, and reproducibility of plastic parts - especially for the automotive and premium segment of household and industrial applications - Synventive introduces their next generation of synflow® technology for hydraulic actuated valve gate systems. It gives molders all of the abilities of previous synflow® versions and much more synflow® brings more advanced features, which allow molders to quickly and easily define the complete molding parameters for a specific application.
All Synventive valve gated hot runners for sequential applications can now come standard as SVG+TM, which include position sensors on the actuators and connections that allow for system upgrades. During mold sampling, if it is determined through a brief trial that synflow® would benefit the process, the technology can be added to any SVG+ hot runner system.

The third generation of synflow® was developed with simplicity of use in mind and has dramatically increased functionality to significantly improve the performance and user experience. The most notable addition to the synflow® functionality is the ability to stop the opening of the valve pin at any position of the stroke and hold it there for a defined amount of time. This process allows for individual flow rate control of each nozzle to balance family molds or fill complex multi-gated geometries. Alternating opening profiles can also be programmed, offering the ability to pre-fill cold runners or create differential packing within complex multi-gated parts.
With these new product launches, Synventive is poised to meet the future demands in the molding industry. The modular approach provides efficient options to upgrade hot runner systems with additional technologies to fulfill the growing quality requirements of plastic parts.
