Slovnaft refinery starts in April with general turnaround
Slovnaft will shut down part of its production facilities over Easter for regularly scheduled turnaround of refinery equipment to ensure smooth operation. A total of 16 production units will be gradually shut down. Restart of full production is scheduled for the middle of June 2017.
During the turnaround there will be extensive technical inspections and maintenance, and also upgrade of equipment with the aim of cutting energy demands for the production of petroleum products and to increase safety. Slovnaft will invest a total of over EUR 57 million into the general turnaround, of which EUR 33 million will be spent on repairs and maintenance and more than EUR 24 million to modernise the facilities.
The main contractor will be Slovnaft´s subsidiary Slovnaft Montáže a Opravy, while most work is being outsourced and a part carried out by the refinery’s own staff. About 1,400 outside contracted staff will be working at Slovnaft while the refinery is being overhauled.
Timely scheduling of the turnaround guarantees that shutting down part of the refinery will not affect customer orders. The company has put aside sufficient stocks and any higher demand would be covered either by production at other MOL Group refineries or, if necessary by local purchases on export markets.
