Partnership of Unipetrol and the Institute of Chemical Technology Prague continues in 2013 - Unipetrol will support joint projects with 800,000 CZK

Representatives of the Unipetrol group and of the Institute of Chemical Technology, Prague have signed the contract on mutual cooperation for the year 2013. Within this contract, Unipetrol will support for example the realization of chemistry fairs in Prague and Most, organization of the chemistry Olympics, awarding successful students or the ‘Hour of modern chemistry’ project. The Unipetrol group has been a strategic partner of the Institute of Chemical Technology Prague for twelve years.

“Within the twelve years cooperation with the Institute of Chemical Technology Prague, we have been able to support tens of projects with the aim to make chemistry more popular. With regards to the aging of our employees – this issue is pressing not only in Unipetrol but within the whole Association of Chemical Industry – it is important to attract new talented students to chemistry,” says the CEO and the chairman of the Unipetrol Board of Directors Piotr Chełmiński.

“We truly appreciate the long-term cooperation with a strong industrial partner in the area of promotion of chemistry and other natural sciences and technological fields, especially among young people, and improving the image of chemistry as seen by the society. Young people who come to study at our institute know that they have a very good perspective on the market, which reflects the quality of our institute,” said the rector of the Institute of Chemical Technology Prague, prof. Ing. Karel Melzoch, CSc.

Newly the mutual cooperation also supports the organization of two chemistry fairs. These will take place in June in Most and in September in Prague on the premises of the Institute of Chemical Technology Prague. Unipetrol will introduce its activities to the public and students on both events.

In 2013 Unipetrol will support a total of 10 projects and activities of the institute. The ‘Hour of modern chemistry’ project has been going on successfully for several years. Within this project a couple of lectors visit high schools and elementary schools and present interesting and funny chemical experiments. Among other projects, the best students of the Institute of Chemical Technology Prague will be awarded within the Unipetrol awards for best diploma theses. Unipetrol will also support the Summer school for high school teachers, Autumn school for elementary school teachers or the Student science conference.
