MSV 2019 will focus on digitization of manufacturing

61th International Engineering Fair (MSV) in Brno will once again showcase the latest news and trends in industrial technologies, the phenomenon of a digital factory and will open a debate on circular economy. MSV 2019 will be held from 7th to 11th October at the Brno Exhibition Centre, concurrently with the Transport and Logistics and ENVITECH fairs.

MSV will again completely  fill the Brno Exhibition Centre and will be an important economic and political event. The organizers expect approximately 1,600 exhibiting companies and at least 80 thousand trade visitors.

Digital Factory 2.0 exhibition

The International Engineering Fair has been dedicated to the upcoming fourth industrial revolution since 2015, when the Industry 4.0 National Initiative was announced. After four years, the key theme of the fair is moving to a higher level and is now called the Digital Factory 2.0 and Industry 4.0_2nd Wave. "The presentation of the theme will take place on two levels. The first is a presentation at the existing stands of exhibitors in the individual sectoral halls and the second is a comprehensive presentation of this issue in the form of a separate exhibition called Digital Factory 2.0. Visitors will find the entire exhibition in Hall A1 and I believe that it will be an attractive feature of the fair,” says MSV Director Michalis Busios. The  Digital Factory 2.0 exhibition will concentrate information and solutions focused on the digital future. Solutions based on deep digital transformation and artificial intelligence aiming to improve efficiency and quality of production will be presented.

Through thematic islands, a so-called Digital Pathway will also be created to guide visitors through specific phenomena such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, intelligent robotics and mechatronics, electromobility, crypto security, or new forms of education. The digital pathway will also show possible options for further development.

CyberEvents and International Conference

Part of the Digital Factory 2.0 exhibition in Hall A1 will be an action stage designed for Cyber Events – lectures, presentations, round tables and discussions that will be broadcast by Internet TV. Another key point of the Digital Factory 2.0 project will be Lounge E2 in Hall E, where an international conference entitled "Industry 4.0_2. Wave" will be held on 9 October 2019. Lecturers from the Czech Republic and abroad will discuss topics such as electromobility and autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence in business processes, cyber-physical systems to increase production efficiency or blockchain and its use in industry.

The first blockchain in Europe will also be presented

The Electrical and Electronic Association of the Czech Republic (EIA) has announced the launch of the Notarius blockchain, the first application of its kind in Europe. As a long-term partner of MSV and a digital factory promoter, ElA will present its solution at this year's fair. The ElA public blockchain network is designed to provide companies with independent, trustworthy, reliable and a permanent platform for using blockchain technology. Notarius is currently running in test mode and serves to verify electronic documents. With massive deployment of the Internet of Things, blockchain will become a necessary security addition. For example, it can serve industry in a similar way as a black box, because in the event of an accident or any discrepancy it will provide accurate data stored in machines, including unquestionable time sequences.

Supporting programme

Supporting programme is now being gradually composed mainly of conferences and professional meetings, for example a congress of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, a conference focused on 3D printing, a  Bavarian-Czech conference on digitization, a forum of industry and universities, the Forum AUTOMA (automation technology), the aforementioned Industry 4.0_ 2nd Wave conference and more. Visitors can also take part in the business day of the Russian Federation or the business day of Belarus. For the first three days of MSV, there will be a parallel event called Contact-Contract running, promoted by  the Regional Chamber of Commerce; throughout the fair a packaging line with digital and automated technologies will be in operation as part of the PACKAGING LIVE project. The ENVITECH fair will feature a conference focusing on the circular economy.

Transport and Logistics

Although the sector of transport and logistics is represented at the engineering fair every year, the interest of exhibitors in this field is higher in odd years. Visitors will find a wide range of handling and warehousing technology, industrial packaging and transportation systems, in particular Hall A2, which is entirely dedicated to logistics. Its dominant feature will be automatic storage systems. However, even in some other halls, especially in Hall V, individual manufacturers will present products such as special assembly equipment, transport systems or labelling and identification.
