Matej Varga became Executive Director of ORLEN Unipetrol Slovakia for retail network
Matej Varga takes over the management of the retail network of ORLEN filling stations in Slovakia. He will take up the position of Executive Director responsible for the Slovak retail network ORLEN on November 1, 2024. Matej Varga has worked in various managerial positions in the field of retail sales in the food segment. His goal is to maximize the market potential and further develop the ORLEN network.
Matej Varga worked for seven years as Director of Strategic Development at Subway International, in the last four years he was CEO of METRO Convenience Slovakia and Vice President of METRO AG, which, among other things, operates an international network of retail stores.
Agnieszka Bobrukiewicz, ORLEN Unipetrol Group Board Member responsible for Retail and Marketing, commented: "I am pleased to welcome Matej to our group as a manager with international retail experience and proven track of successful projects.” She added: "I believe he will contribute to the growth of the network, especially in terms of sales volumes, margins and market share. We believe that he will bring his expertise and passion to Slovakia and together we will be able to increase our market share, exploits its potential and strengthen the presence of the ORLEN brand on the Slovak market.”
Matej Varga, the new Executive Director of the ORLEN Unipetrol Slovakia retail network, added: "I am looking forward to new challenges and I am convinced that I will be able to draw from my experience in the retail and franchising sector. I have specialised in managing strategies to increase sales and profitability, expanding the store network and forming high-performing teams. At the same time, I appreciate the opportunity to be at the forefront of the development of electromobility at ORLEN filling stations in Slovakia."
The network of ORLEN filling stations entered Slovakia in 2019, when it opened its first station in Malacky and currently consists of 97 stations. The ORLEN company offers Efecta additive fuels with proven cleaning effects and Verva premium fuels at filling stations in the Slovak Republic, which, in addition to taking care of the engine system, have maximum improved performance parameters. The product range also includes a wide range of additional sales and refreshments under the Stop Cafe brand. ORLEN also issues its own Easy and Business fuel cards and offers customers the ORLEN loyalty application.
