Many reasons for being optimistic at DESMA

This company located in Fridingen is the world's leading expert when it comes to injection moulding machines and production systems for technically demanding moulded parts made of rubber and silicone materials which e. g. are used in the sealing and vibration technology of automobiles, for machines and household appliances, power generation and distribution, infrastructure engineering and mining of raw materials.   

The Managing Directors, Martin Schürmann and Dr. Harald Zebedin, in charge of the international corporate group, are very satisfied when looking back at 2017 and have every reason to feel optimistic about the current year: In 2017, DESMA raised the order intake by 21% to € 115 million as against the previous year - with 17% of it being generated with new customers. At the same time, sales volume went up by 15% to € 100 million during the reporting period. Order backlog has increased on balance by 28% to € 37 million.

Within a field of 13 competitors acting internationally and locally, DESMA is maintaining a relevant market share of at least 30%. DESMA has been able to achieve continuous growth of 6% as the mean annual rate (CAGR), whereas the world market has grown by 3.5% over the past 10 years.  

565 employees work at the 5 international manufacturing sites and 35 sales and service stations. With 298 of this staff working abroad, DESMA employs for the first time in its history more people there than in Germany.

The cumulative expenditure for investments, training and development equals to 8% of sales.

The company has invested the amount of € 6.5 million particularly in the strategic expansion of the level of vertical integration and process optimization, in the digitization of production and new digital services.   

Thus, DESMA spends a big share of the corporate profit on its future viability.
