The leading role of the Dutch manufacturer of dosing technology Movacolor is linked to a business relationship of more than 30 years with global manufacturers of plastics and plastic products.
1.PLASTCOMPANY has been working with Movacolor for almost 20 years. The dosing technology is based on the principle of direct dosing of masterbatches, powders, recyclates or liquids and finds application in both extrusion and injection moulding.
Movacolor has brought several innovations to the market this year.
A portable controller for easy and efficient dosing
PTC (Portable Touchscreen Controller) - A portable touchscreen control panel is the standard configuration for all gravimetric solutions. This new, improved solution looks cleaner from the outside with fewer cables and is also portable for more convenient use.
How the new controller will improve your production environment:
- 8-inch colour touchscreen with ergonomic design
- Connection via a single CAN bus cable with a maximum length of up to 15 metres
- Controls up to 15 different gravimetric units from one location
- Customizable mounting options provide flexibility
This innovation replaces the original MCTC, which required multiple cable connections.
New volumetric dosing unit for high performance
Another noteworthy feature is the MDS volumetric dosing unit. The brand new MDS volumetric dosing unit, part of modular dosing solutions, addresses the need for a powerful and reliable dosing unit at a cost-effective price. It sets a new standard for volumetric dosing. The MDS dosing unit incorporates the newly developed 4.3" VoluTouch control panel. This touchscreen controller can control up to two units and features intuitive functions.

Offline dosing system for maximum safety and efficiency
We would also like to introduce the new offline dosing system MCS.
In injection moulding, it is common for the machine to vibrate significantly when running. While our MDS Balance provides accurate dosing even in most vibration scenarios, companies using machines with significantly higher vibration have long struggled to achieve accurate dosing results.
Let's look at the example of a so-called high-speed injection moulding machine with a capacity of several (tens of) cycles per minute. In such machines, significantly higher vibrations can be observed due to the intense movements, which can interfere with the ability of the dosing tool to achieve maximum dosing accuracy.
By separating the dosing unit from the production machine, you can achieve high dosing accuracy and mixture homogeneity by eliminating machine vibration with our innovative dosing solution, with the dosing device located on the floor next to the production machine.

Another reason why our customers requested the dosing unit to be placed next to the production machine (off-line) was for safety reasons, especially for larger injection moulding machines. Due to tighter regulations, manufacturers are looking for ways to improve safety in their factories.
These include larger multi-component machines with vertically positioned injection units, where the operator has to climb to the top of the production machine or the appropriate platform to reach the dosing unit for refilling, material change or maintenance. In such situations there is a significant risk of injury to the operator, for example by falling from the production machine.
In addition, there is a potential risk that the operator may cause serious damage to the production machine by not having proper access to the dosing unit when performing these tasks. Because time is money, operators often resort to makeshift solutions to speed up the work, exposing themselves to various risks.
With MCS Off-line dosing you can avoid dangerous situations, no more climbing ladders or stairs. Your operator has safe access to the dosing equipment at a comfortable height above floor level.
In addition to the high vibration and safety factor, our customers have also mentioned efficiency as an important consideration. With larger (vertical) injection moulding machines and extruders, accessibility to the dosing unit can be limited. As a result, even simple operations such as material changes, cleaning and maintenance carried out at height can require more time compared to installation next to the injection moulding machine.
Save time performing material changes, maintenance and cleaning by installing equipment next to the production machine. In addition, the mobile version with trolley and frame makes it easy to move the system for maintenance on the primary machine or when moving the dosing equipment between multiple machines.
