Injection moulder EKT building new Czech components plant
Work is well underway on construction of the first production plant being established abroad by German technical component moulder Eifler Kunststoff-Technik (EKT).
A formal ground breaking ceremony was staged in June at a site in Litovel in east of the Czech Republic where EKT, based in Bad Salzuflen, Germany, expects to start initial production of injection moulded parts in a 5,000 square metre hall by the end of 2016.
The company specialises in the manufacture of components and assemblies for the household appliances industry as well as the automotive sector. The new Czech facility will enable EKT to serve local operations of major customers including Miele, Siemens and Hella more efficiently, it confirmed.
“For its proximity to the main customers, an additional site in the Czech Republic is indispensable,” the company said in a statement.
EKT, part of the German industrial group Dieter Eifler, eventually aims to operate a production unit of 8,500 square metres on its 18,000 square metre site located near Olomouc which is ripe for later expansion schemes.
The company is expected to install 21 new injection moulding machines at its new Czech operation which is set to create 70 new jobs.
Meanwhile, EKT has been expanding the firm’s headquarters component moulding operation at its industrial base at Bad Salzuflen in North Rhine-Westphalia state. Earlier this year, the firm finished constructing two new production halls and a warehouse on 8,000 square metres of land acquired beside its main site.
The expansion, involving additional production and storage space of 3,200 square metres, is planned to be in operation by January 2017. The extra buildings will allow EKT to install a further 14 injection moulding lines at its German site extending its capability from the 24 machines it runs at present supplied by Engel.
EKT’s projects in Germany and the Czech Republic are designed to provide it with the capacity to handle its expanding order book and growing number of customers.
