BGS Irradiation Service Days: Virtual trade fair on plastics radiation crosslinking for e-mobility, mechanical engineering and the cable and electrical industries

On 29 September, experts from science, research and industry will discuss new technologies and findings in plastics technology as well as the potential of radiation crosslinking for infrastructure, 3D printing, e-mobility and applications in the electrical industry. Participation in the ISDbyBGS is free of charge. Registration is possible via the event website .

With a focus on knowledge transfer, service and assistance around the upgrading of plastics, the ISDbyBGS on 29 September primarily addresses a professional audience from the automotive, mechanical engineering and cable and electrical industries. More than eleven experts from the Institute of Polymer Technology, TH Köln, Aalen University of Applied Sciences, Kingspan, Huber+Suhner, Dipromat, Ascend Performance Technology and BGS will present current topics from the world of radiation crosslinking and upgrading of bulk plastics in live lectures, interviews and discussion panels. Some presentations will be offered in English.

Lectures for experts

From basic lectures on the crosslinking of thermoplastics and elastomers to explanations of heat resistance and industry-specific insights on the use in continuous products, advantages of crosslinked components for e-mobility to future topics of recycling and application technology potentials in the electrical industry, among others, the ISDbyBGS will offer eleven different expert lectures on 29 September from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. "With the BGS Irradiation Service Days, we have created a new, interactive platform for exchanging information on trends and topics in radiation crosslinking and radiation sterilization - from experts for experts," explains BGS Managing Director Dr. Andreas Ostrowicki. "We are pleased to be able to present such an extensive live programme again this year, with the participation of numerous partners and customers."

Six virtual trade show rooms

With six virtual trade show rooms, the interactive trade show offers guided tours and opportunities for personal exchange in addition to live conferences and discussions. Here visitors will find further information and numerous download materials, and can arrange meetings.

Tour of production and logistics

Another highlight of the trade fair days is a guided virtual tour of production and logistics at BGS in Bruchsal. Here, participants can see, for example, the two electron accelerators as well as the cobalt-60 gamma facility commissioned in 2018 and ask questions live. On 28 September, the first day of the trade show, both internal and external experts will present numerous trends and topics in the area of radiation sterilization, such as radiation sterilization methods, quality characteristics in routine irradiation, and requirements for plastics for medical devices. In addition, there will be discussion panels on topics such as the supply chain in the medical device market or the development of radiation sterilization. The live programme on radiation sterilization is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
