BGS establishes staff position for technology management and reassigns head of application development
The BGS Beta-Gamma-Service GmbH & Co. KG has established a staff position for strategic technology management as of July 1st. The leadership will be assumed by Dr. Dirk Fischer, a PhD chemist and longtime head of application development at BGS.
His responsibilities include overseeing cross-departmental technology projects, technology and feasibility studies, as well as research and development projects led by interdisciplinary teams. The new Technology Management staff unit thus encompasses all stages from trend and technology scouting to final technology development.
"With the new staff position, we are successfully aligning our services with the challenges of the coming years. The key to developing new technological solutions and early detection of industry trends lies in systematically operated technology management. We will continue to cooperate closely with partners from science and industry," emphasizes Dr. Dirk Fischer on assuming the new position.
BGS Managing Director Dr. Andreas Ostrowicki underscores the importance of the staff unit for existing research and development work: "To drive innovation, it is important to recognize, evaluate, and implement new technologies early on. With the new staff unit, we are focusing more intensively on technology development, not only in future industries such as renewable energy or e-mobility. We are delighted to have gained Dr. Dirk Fischer, a highly competent and esteemed colleague, for this new task. With more than 25 years of experience in research and development, industrial engineering, technology, and innovation management, Dr. Fischer brings extensive expertise to establish and bring to life a systematic technology management process at BGS."
The Technology Management staff unit will take over ongoing research projects, including projects related to the recycling of radiation-crosslinked polyamides, the compatibility of biopolymers, or alternatives for determining the degree of crosslinking. Dirk Fischer will remain the contact person for existing project partners of BGS.
New Head of Application Development
Marie-Bernadette Watolla will assume the role of Head of Application Development. She will be responsible for cross-site tasks of the department, including technical feasibility assessments and product qualifications in the fields of radiation crosslinking and radiation sterilization. Watolla will be in charge of the technical implementation, optimization, and customization of customer-specific production requirements. After working at B.Braun, a leading medical technology company, the studied materials scientist is returning to BGS Beta-Gamma-Service GmbH & Co. KG.
